Mallamma reiterates her demand for a CBI probe against the then IGP Wazir Ahmed

Mallamma Bande, wife of sub-inspector Mallikarjun Bande who was killed during a shootout with criminal Munna Darbadar here on January 8, has said she does not agree with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) report “exonerating” the then Inspector-General of Police Wazir Ahmed in the case.

She has reiterated her demand for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Mr. Ahmed.

Reacting to a report appearing in a section of the press on Wednesday, Ms. Mallamma said the CID team, during its visits to Gulbarga, did not record her statement. “How can they come to a conclusion in the case without recording my statement,” she said. Ms. Mallamma said her charge that Mr. Ahmed had harassed her husband had been proved in the CID report.

News reports, quoting the CID report, claimed that relations between Mr. Ahmed and Bande were strained and they had differences over official work. According to the CID report, the 9 mm bullet that killed Bande was fired from police sub-inspector Murali’s service revolver. The Police Department does not dispute this.

Ms. Mallamma wanted to know who fired at her husband and how he was shot with a service revolver.

The CID report also said police officials, including Bande, had not properly planned the operation to nab Darbadar due to lack of experience. The report said Bandewas not carrying his service revolver on that day.
