The former MLC S.M. Anand, who has been appointed Chairman of the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., has said that he will ensure effective implementation of government schemes such as Anna Bhagya and Akshara Dasoha.
Mr. Anand took charge as chairman of Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. on November 26.
“I have understood the importance of improving infrastructure facilities in the State to store foodgrains. We don’t have own godowns in many districts, including Hassan,” he said.
Briefing presspersons about the functions of the corporation, Mr. Anand said it would handle procurement, lifting and distribution of foodgrains under public distribution system and assist the State government in its schemes. “I have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to allot sites in all taluk centres for the corporation to build godowns. The Deputy Commissioner has agreed to initiate necessary measures in this regard,” he said.
To a question on the alleged differences among Congress workers regarding appointments to boards and corporations, Mr. Anand said there were nearly 10,000 applications for boards and corporations. Among them, nearly 100 were given posts.
“No party can satisfy all aspirants. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara had given representation to all sections of society while selecting workers for these posts,” he said.
