Members of the National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) and Jan Sangram Parishat (JSP) on Thursday appealed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to act against those accused of land grabbing in the reports of the Task Force on Recovery of Public Lands and Joint Legislature Committee.
Addressing presspersons here, S.R. Hiremath, who led the campaign against illegal mining in the State, said that both the task force, led by the former Additional Chief Secretary V. Balasubramanian, and the Joint Legislature Committee, headed by A.T. Ramaswamy, had indicted several prominent personalities, including politicians and officials.
Together these two committees have exposed land grabbing (about 40,000 acres valued at over Rs. 50,000 crore). Members of the Samaj Parivartana Samudaya had filed a public interest litigation in the High Court of Karnataka, he said.
