The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has urged the Mandya City Municipal Council (CMC) to establish a raitha santhe (wholesale vegetable market)to provide better facilities for vegetable growers to sell their produce.

KRRS members met CMC president, H.C. Boregowda, at his office here on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum .“Vegetable growers are forced to sell their produce on pavements. Therefore, the CMC should establish a wholesale vegetable market at santhe maidana in the town,” the memorandum stated.“We have urged the CMC to establish a raitha santhe and provide facilities such as shelter, drinking water, toilets and power supply,” Shambhunahalli Suresh, KRRS leader, told The Hindu. CMC was also urged not to allow people to construct wedding halls and community halls along the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway in the town.
