It’s recognition of reality, says BJP

It’s “recognition of reality,” the BJP said on the Congress decision not to name party vice-president Rahul Gandhi as its prime ministerial nominee ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha poll.

BJP president Rajnath Singh said on Thursday there was no doubt that his party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was the most popular political figure.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said the Congress had realised that it was not going to form the government after the Lok Sabha election.

“They know that the Congress won’t come to power, therefore why declare Rahul Gandhi as a candidate only to let him down?,” tweeted BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.
