The CBI Special Court, hearing the 2G spectrum scam case, on Thursday allowed the Income Tax Department to question six accused in the case including the former Telecom Minister, A. Raja, from July 27 to 29.

Special Judge O.P. Saini allowed the application moved by the I-T Department, seeking permission to question Swan Telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka, and three top Reliance ADA Group officials Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara.

While Mr. Raja will be questioned by a team from the Tiruchi office of the department regarding matters related to his income, Mr. Balwa will be questioned by a team from Mumbai.

Senior standing counsel of the Department Sanjeev Rajpal referred to the May 5 Supreme Court order giving it the “liberty to file an appropriate application” in the Special Court to seek permission to examine the accused in the 2G spectrum scam case.
