The six Indian crew members of m.v. Suez, who were brought to Karachi on Thursday evening along with 16 others by Pakistani warship PNS Zulfiquar after 10 months in captivity of Somali pirates, left late on Thursday night en route to New Delhi, according to sources in the Indian High Commission.
Earlier, the agent of m.v. Suez, Majid Aziz, said they would reach Mumbai on Friday morning.
Warm reception
The sailors were given a warm reception at the Karachi port and later at the Sindh Governor House.
The crew members, after their release on June 13, faced 10 days of further uncertainty as they had to change ship twice.
PNS Zulfiquar docked at the port in full media glare, with Sindh Governor Ishrat Ul Ebad leading the welcome of the crew that comprised Pakistanis, the six Indians, Egyptians and a Sri Lankan.
Officials from the Egyptian and Sri Lankan missions and Indian visa counsellor Suhel Khan were present.
