Pakistan is holding a mega lifestyle show at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from April 12 to 15 to showcase its cultural and lifestyle strengths and provide insight into its huge trade potential.
The show is expected to explore the potential areas of partnership between them.
Pakistan Trade and Commerce Minister Makhdoom Mohammed Amin Fahim will be in New Delhi to inaugurate the event. Nearly 100 Pakistani firms, including the country's top brands and fashion outlets, are taking part in the four-day event.
The event, being jointly organised by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is to reciprocate the India Show held in Lahore in February in which nearly 125-odd Indian companies participated. The show was a huge hit, prompting the organisers to hold a similar event in India.
Participation of Pakistan companies will witness the display of products ranging from fashion apparel, textiles, furniture, leather items, home accessories, spices and marble handicrafts. Union Commerce Minister Anand Sharma is expected to host a cultural dinner for Mr. Fahim and the visiting Pakistan business community.
What is more that not only the visitors to the mega event will be able to saviour authentic Pakistani cuisine at the specially created food court but will also witness the cultural aspects of the neighbouring country through presentation of various programmes by artists drawn from there.
The Pakistan business delegation would comprise CEOs from Pakistan PSUs and business houses, representing various sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, light engineering, information technology, leather, petroleum products, finance, logistics and agriculture.
A delegation of rice millers and growers is coming to India at the same time to interact with their counterparts on seeking business opportunities under the new liberalised regime. The rice millers in Pakistan are keen on getting Indian technology for processing of rice from the farm to the folk.
Similarly, a delegation, comprising tea traders from Pakistan, is visiting India to explore the business opportunities in one of the largest tea producing countries. They would interact with Indian Tea Board officials in Kolkata for possible tie ups in export and marketing of tea products.
