April 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - GUNTUR:

The Department of Social Welfare is making preparations for a mega grounding programme for distribution of assets to beneficiaries from SC/ST communities on April 7 at BR Stadium here.

Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu, who represents Prathipadu (SC) constituency from the district, is keen on making the programme a grand success and has roped in the Assembly Speaker and all the ministers to attend the programme.

The programme was planned earlier, but was deferred in view of the model code of conduct during elections for Guntur-Krishna Teacher MLC.

Giving details of the programme, Executive Director of SC Corporation, K. Balaji Naik said here on Wednesday that the theme of the programme would be ``Chandranna Samskehama Palana- Dalita, Girijana Sadhikaratha,’’ (Chandrababu Welfare governance-Empowerment of SC/ST sections).

“We are making preparations for rolling out subsidies worth Rs. 50 crore for 10,000 beneficiaries on a single platform. The Ministers will also give away assets and sanction letters under various schemes under SC/ST Sub Plan being implemented by 37 line departments,” Mr. Naik said.

The department would also conduct an awareness session on various welfare schemes for SC/ST beneficiaries.
