In a freak accident a bus belonging to Sasi Engineering College caught fire on Friday morning on National Highway-16 near here. According to police sources, one of the four buses, that were returning from Prathipadu after dropping students of the college, caught fire as one of the engine batteries leaked and flames started coming out of it.

Driver Satyanarayana, who noticed the flames immediately broke the front window panes and jumped from the bus and within a short time 70 per cent of the bus went up in flames. The fire fighters came to the spot and brought the fire under control.

According to the driver, it is sheer luck that he dropped all the students at college and was going back to pick up some relatives from Prathipadu as there was some private function of the management in the college in the evening.
