Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Saturday, said despite the best efforts of separatists within the Congress and their confidence, A.P. would remain as one State.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said ‘Telugu Talli’ had a ‘Brahmasthra’ which would be used, if necessary.
Step-by-step
He said the UPA government was going step-by-step on the demand for a separate State.
Many factors
“It cannot happen overnight and there are so many factors to be taken into consideration. The promises made by the Congress have been honoured, but one should understand that it needs a resolution in the Assembly,” he declared.
Star batsman
Mr. Rajagopal expressed confidence that the Congress would win the 2014 elections on the united AP plank, just as we did in 2004 and 2009. Without naming anyone, he said, “We trust a star batsman to lead us in defeating our political rivals”.
Asked whether the party would contest the local bodies elections on the plank of a united State, Mr. Rajagopal said the Congress would plunge into the polls only on the basis of its performance.
