Stressing the need for education and awareness among the women about their rights, BJP leader D. Purandeswari on Sunday said the spirit of International Women’s Day should reach every household without fail by way of honouring women and girl child. She was the chief guest of the celebrations organised by the Bharatiya Janta Mahila Morcha here to mark the Women’s Day. Stating that there was no dearth of Acts to protect the women from discrimination and ill-treatment, she called upon the parents and teachers to accord equal treatment to girls and boys. Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao felt that rapid changes that took place in the curricula was the reason behind the increasing number of atrocities on women. The younger generation was unaware of the Indian culture, he said.
