HRA benefit only for select employees

Only those migrating to Amaravati from offices under GHMC limits are eligible

: The State government has decided to continue payment of house rent allowance at the rate of 30 per cent of the basic salary of the employees who are being shifted to the new capital region Amaravati.

Employees working in the Secretariat, heads of departments and other offices situated under the jurisdiction of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will continue to get HRA of 30 per cent, subject to a maximum of Rs. 20,000, for a period of one year, Finance Department Special Secretary Hema Munivenkatappa said in the order issued on Tuesday.

The order comes in the light of the demand from the employees that they be allowed to draw the HRA equivalent to that the present in view of the likely increase in the expenditure consequent on their shifting to the new capital region.

The government has yet to give clarity on the local status to the children of the employees who are migrating to the new capital region which is one of the major demands of the employees willing to shift to the new capital region or at the place proposed for shifting of Secretariat/HoD administration.
