‘Godavari Antya Pushkaralu neglected’

July 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:04 am IST - RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM:

BJP MLC Somu Veerraju on Tuesday blamed the East Godavari Collector for not taking any initiative in making arrangements for the Godavari Antya Pushkaralu that are going to commence next month.

After visiting two important bathing ghats — Kotilingala and Pushkara — along with his party leaders, he spoke to media persons at the Pushkara Ghat.

He alleged that the district Collector had not taken the Antya Pushkaralu seriously. He had not yet conducted a review meeting with political parties. He just held two or three meetings with officials, Mr. Veerraju alleged.

The bathing ghats and also dressing rooms for women were in a very bad shape and officials were hardly concerned about these issues, he said. He asked why the Municipal Corporation did not utilise the tankers of the APPM, ONGC, Reliance and the Fire Services department to clean the ghats which were filled with mud due to the recent floods upstream of the Godavari.
