Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Gujarat, Le Yucheng, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to India, paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel in Gandhinagar on Saturday. Mr. Yucheng invited Ms. Patel to visit China.

Highlighting the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit, 2015, the Chief Minister invited China to participate in the mega investment event in Gandhinagar in January.

She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China when he was Gujarat Chief Minister and the upcoming visit of Mr. Xi would open new frontiers in trade and commerce for both countries.

Underscoring Gujarat’s strengths in providing an investment-friendly climate along with infrastructure and labour, the Chief Minister said many Chinese companies had set up shop in the State. Hence, Chinese language was being taught in several universities in Gujarat. She also expressed happiness that Hindi was being taught in two universities in China.

“This was a maiden visit to an Indian State by the Chinese envoy. Welcoming Mr. Yucheng, Ms. Patel praised the economic growth of China in the past two-and-half decades to emerge as a ‘superpower,’” an official press note said.
