Days after Rashtriya Swayamsevak (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said there was no need to force anyone to say Bharat Mata ki jai (Glory To Mother India), the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a part of the larger Sangh Parivar, hit out at the Darul-Uloom, Deoband for passing a fatwa labelling the slogan “un-Islamic”.

“None should now doubt that the Wahabi ideology of Deoband is the real mother of terrorism,” VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain pointed out.

The Centre for Policy Studies, a think tank with some eminent right-wing thinkers, in its report on the changing religious demography of the Mewat region comprising some districts of Haryana and Rajasthan, alleges that Census data show an “exclusive Muslim pocket” under construction, as the Muslim population of the region has rise sharply.

“They seem to be in the process of establishing an exclusively Muslim pocket in the near future,” the report claims.
