Soon after news broke that >Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar had obtained interim bail from the Delhi High Court, a celebratory mood has been prevailing at his village Masnadpur in Begusarai district of Bihar. Kanhaiya’s parents and younger brother, who live in the village, said they had been “waiting for such a celebratory moment” for the past several days.
“A large number of villagers have gathered at my house now… crackers are being burst, sweets are being distributed and people are smearing each other with gulal (coloured powder)… we have been waiting for this day to come for the past several days”, Prince Kumar, younger brother of Kanhaiya, told The Hindu Kanhaiya’s father Jaishankar Singh, who is paralytic and bed-ridden, was glad after hearing the news.
