The Delhi Police on Sunday registered a case in connection with the alleged assault on the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Anand Sharma, during his visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru University on Saturday.

The former Union Minister and senior Congress leader was allegedly heckled while leaving the JNU campus.

A group of police officers also met Mr. Sharma at his residence. Though the attackers were not identified yet, the police said efforts were being made to identify them, said the officer.

ABVP supporters from the campus dismissed the allegations.
