The Congress on Sunday postponed its massive agitation against the ruling All India NR Congress government to February next year.
The party had originally planned a massive rally against the government on December 19.
The postponement of the decision was taken at the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee meeting held on Sunday at the party office.
Leader of the Opposition V. Vaithilingam, former Union Minister for State V.Narayanaswamy, PCC president A. V. Subramanian and MLA K. Lakshmi Narayan also participated in the event.
The meeting primarily discussed the membership drive and the conduct of the rally.
Mr. Subramanian said the PCC decided to postpone the rally, taking into account the difficulties in arranging transport for supporters from rural areas during the Sabarimala season.
He added that the party decided to complete the membership drive by end of December.
