11 cars damaged as wall collapses during rains in Mumbai

The IMD has predicted continuous rain or thundershowers with heavy to very heavy rainfall for Monday.

A portion of a building’s compound wall and an internal road caved-in in Wadala on Monday, allegedly due to ongoing construction work in a neighbouring plot, and damaged 11 cars. Antop Hill Police has registered an FIR against the builder.

Lloyd’s Estate is a prominent housing society consisting of nine buildings. Around 4 a.m. Monday, a section of the internal road and a portion of the compound wall in the parking area near Wadala Heights (one of the buildings) caved-in, leaving a large crater in the ground. The Fire Brigade was called. No casualty was reported.

Ajay Singh Rathod, a resident, said, “I heard a loud noise and I looked outside. To my horror, I saw the parking floor slowly slipping down with parked cars. I immediately warned all my neighbours and we evacuated the building.”

The IMD has predicted continuous rain or thundershowers with heavy to very heavy rainfall for Monday.
