Cycle expedition to be launched on Keralappiravi

The Calicut Cycle Brigade is launching a 63-day cycling expedition on the 63rd Keralappiravi day.

The Calicut Cycle Brigade is a project of the Kozhikode District Panchayat launched with the help of Grand Cycle Challenge and Green Care Mission in higher secondary schools in the district. The expedition with the slogan ‘Navakeralam Haritha Keralam’ (New Kerala, Green Kerala) will be conducted from October 31 to January 1, 2020 with the support of the District Haritha Keralam Mission and Aster Volunteers.

The expedition will be flagged off on the District Sports Council office premises at Mananchira at 8.30 a.m on October 31. A Kerala Made of Cycles by National Service Scheme city cluster, One Click Photo Shoot by 63 photographers under the aegis of All Kerala Photographers’ Association, a giant ‘birthday’ cake and Go Green Challenge of Junior Chamber International are also part of the event.

As many as 13,900 NSS volunteers from 139 higher secondary schools in the district will join the expedition, a press release said.
