The Malayalam super-hit, Drishyam , which featured Mohanlal in the role of a cable television operator, is being remade in every major film industry in India.

This July, the Tamil and Hindi remakes, featuring actors Kamal Haasan and Ajay Devgn respectively, are likely to release almost simultaneously across India.

The trailers of both the films, which were recently released on video sharing sites, promise to recreate the magic of the original.

The Tamil remake, titled Papanasam and directed by Jeethu Joseph, who also made the original, marks the comeback of actor Gautami, who plays the female lead opposite Kamal Haasan.

The film’s trailer, which features Kamal Haasan speaking the Tirunelveli dialect, has received a great response from fans.

The film will be Kamal Haasan’s second release in 2015 with the actor suggesting that his next, Thoongavanam , rumoured to be a remake of the French film Sleepless Night , will also release this year.

Similarly, the trailer of the Hindi remake titled Drishyam , too received favourable reactions from the fans.

The Hindi remake too marks the return of actor Shriya Saran, who plays the role of a mother of two originally played by actor Meena. The Hindi film is directed by Nishikant Kamath.
