Sand sculptures, puppet shows to promote voting

After Twitter, bus shelters and shopping bags, the Election Commission’s #TN100percent campaign, aimed at ensuring maximum voting during the May 16 Assembly polls, is focussing on other means to draw the attention of electors.

Sand sculptures at beaches and puppet shows in rural areas are some of the latest methods the Election Commission has adopted to spread awareness of the #TN100percent campaign across the State. The official Twitter handle of the Chief Electoral Officer, @TNelectionsCEO, is conducting a quiz online for netizens.

Besides the publicity material, the rapper duo – musician Paul Jacob and singer Blaaze, who recently composed a reggae-style song ‘ Vottu Podu’ aimed at targeting the youth to boost their voting percentage, would also be performing in public places.

Cash to the tune of Rs. 18.58 crore has been seized so far by surveillance teams.
