Karunanidhi counters CM over power situation

August 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:04 am IST - CHENNAI:

DMK chief Karunanidhi on Thursday countered Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s claim on Tamil Nadu being a power surplus State and denied her charge that the erstwhile DMK government had destroyed the power sector.

On Wednesday, Ms. Jayalalithaa had told the Legislative Assembly that her government had corrected all the mistakes of the DMK regime and made Tamil Nadu a power surplus State.

In a statement, Mr. Karunanidhi alleged that the government has not taken any steps to improve the power generation in the State and the projects which were announced have not come on stream.
