The Indian Institute of Technology-Madras plans to conduct a free, five-week online course on developing apps. Candidates may register atwww.imad.techfor the course titled Introduction to Modern Application Development (IMAD). The website offers resources needed to learn or brush up on programming basics.
The course comprises 20-minute videos that would be available on YouTube. Candidates will have to participate in graded assignments and have the option of taking a test at the end of the course. Candidates who take the test will receive IIT-M certification.
The course will begin with an introduction to the internet and its common network protocols. The candidates are then taught to build a basic, complete web application and modelling data for the application using databases. In the fourth module, security for an application would be taught and finally, candidates will be taught to build their own mobile application.
The course will be conducted by Gaurav Raina, faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Tanmai Gopal, chief technology officer and co-founder of start-up Hasura.
