Close to 250 field workers of Sun Pharmaceuticals went on mass casual leave on Monday and 38 medical representatives went to Mumbai to take part in a dharna, said S. Vasudevan, secretary, The Tamil Nadu Medical & Sales Representatives Association.

This was part of the Sun Pharma bandh called for by the Federation of Medical & Sales Representatives Associations India (FMRAI).

The bandh was called for to protest alleged unethical marketing practices and alleged anti-labour policies, Ramesh Sundar, secretary, FMRAI, said on Saturday. “The company is indulging in practices such as ‘Pay for Prescription,’ giving gifts to doctors.

According to Mr. Vasudevan, the agitation in Mumbai was staged in front of the head office of the firm.
