Randeep’s transfer cancelled

The State government, on Wednesday, cancelled its order transferring D. Randeep from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Mr. Randeep was posted as commissioner in the Social Welfare Department.

There was a lot of opposition from citizens and BBMP employees to the sudden transfer. Citizens had started an online petition demanding that the government scrap the transfer order. They maintained that in the light of Swachh Sarvekshan 2019, for which a team is likely to come down to Bengaluru for an inspection in January, the official, who has been effectively handling solid waste management issues in the city, should not be transferred.

BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad, who returned from France on Wednesday, had also urged Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara to cancel the transfer and allow Mr. Randeep to continue in the BBMP.
