Controversial Kannada film actor ‘Duniya’ Vijay is in trouble again, this time for allegedly assaulting his 18-year-old daughter at his house in Hosakerehalli on Monday. In her complaint to the police, the victim Monica, who lives with her mother at Kempegowda Layout, accused her father, step-mother and three of her father's associates of assaulting, abusing and threatening her.

She told the police that she went to Vijay’s house around 10.30 a.m. on Monday to collect her clothes, driver’s licence and other documents.

She had moved out of the house to live with her mother, the actor’s first wife Nagarathna, after he allegedly asked her to falsely testify on his behalf in a case. In her complaint, Monica alleged that Vijay, his second wife Kirti Gowda, his friends Hemant and Vinod, and his driver Mohammed verbally abused her when she walked into the house. Vijay and his associates allegedly assaulted her, pushed her against the wall and banged her head against it. She alleged that they punched her multiple times.

She was admitted to Meenakshi Hospital where she underwent treatment on Monday night.

An FIR has been registered against Vijay and his friends under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 324 (assault with deadly weapon), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

The actor has denied these allegations and claimed that Monica was trying to break into his house. “She was trying to break the lock of the house with a stone. No one assaulted her or hit her. All the information is with the Girinagar police. I was at home when she arrived. I have not spoken with her at all,” said the actor.

Vijay was arrested by the High Grounds police in September for allegedly assaulting gym trainer Maruthi Gowda. He was remanded to judicial custody and released on bail on October 1.
