Get set for ‘Akkieneni Jaitra Yatra’

To tell people about the valuable contributions made by veteran Telugu actor late Akkineni Nageswara Rao to the film industry, the Vizag Film Society (VFS) is screening documentary film ‘Akkineni Jaitra Yatra – Filmgrims Progress’ in the city.

The DVD, directed by Hyderabad-based senior film journalist, actor and director S.V. Rama Rao, produced by Telugu Association of North America and edited by Madan Gupta, revolves round the life history of the doyen of the Telugu film world who won the coveted Dada Saheb Phalke Award apart from Padma Vibhushan Award and NTR National Award, among others.

Covering bits and pieces of various mythological genres to romantic ones along with other important features, the 50-minute documentary film will be screened at Andhra University Academic Staff College at 6.15 p.m. on Saturday. Entry is free for the screening.

AU Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju is expected to unveil the DVD.

Speaking to the mediapersons about the free screening, VFS honorary secretary Narava Prakasa Rao and its joint secretary P.V. Ramana said: “The director of the film Mr. Rama Rao is coming down to the city on Saturday. He will speak to the audience on the making of the film where some of his books and DVDs will also be put up at the venue.”
