Fulbright scholarship for AU scholar

Georgitta Valiyamattam, doctoral scholar in psychology at Andhra University, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Fellowship 2016-17. Georgitta who is currently working under Prof. P. Nirmala Devi, will be a visiting as Fulbright researcher at the Centre for Human Animal Bond at the University of Purdue, Indiana.

Georgitta whose study relates Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), has completed her advanced training in AAT from the University of North Texas. Her work at Purdue would involve understanding the intricacies in the qualitative and quantitative assessment of AAT efficacy. A topper in her bachelor’s degree at St. Joseph’s College for Women and gold medallist in her masters from AU, Georgitta earlier worked with the ICSSR as a research assistant and with the UGC-EMMRC as a subject expert in psychology.
