The government has devised an action plan to address drinking water needs in drought-prone areas during summer. Accordingly, the government has sanctioned Rs. 40 crore for supplying drinking water.
As many as 238 mandals in seven districts have been declared drought-hit. Of them, Nuzendla, Ipur, Savalyapuram and Rompircherla are in Guntur district.

Borwell repair
Contingency plans will be prepared by senior officials in every district to ensure regular drinking water supply. Repairs will also be taken up in borewells in the drought-hit areas. Incidentally, the funds were released after the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department submitted summer contingency plans to the government with a request to allot Rs. 123.54 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund to all districts.
