The Southern Railway has announced that the following special trains between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai, and Velankanni would be run to clear the extra rush of passenger traffic expected on the eve of Velankanni festival:
The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Velankanni special train (01031) will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 1.15 p.m. on August 26 and 28 and reach Velankanni at 8 p.m. the next day.
The Velankanni – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus special train (01032) will leave Velankanni at 9 a.m. on August 28 and 30 and reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 6.15 p.m. the next day.
The trains would have one AC 2-tier, two AC 3-tier, 11 Sleeper Class, two General Second Class, and two luggage-cum-brake van with accommodation for the differently abled.
The trains would stop at Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Solapur, Wadi, Yadgir, Raichur, Mantralayam, Adoni, Guntakal, Gooty, Tadipari, Kondapuram, Muddanur, Yerraguntala, Cuddapah, Rajampeta, Koduru, Renigunta, Arakkonam, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tirupadirpuliyur, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam.
The Velankanni – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus special train (01032) will stop at Daund.
Advance reservations for the train will commence on Saturday, according to a Southern Railway release.
Temporary augmentation
The following trains will be temporarily augmented:
The Tiruchi – Howrah – Tiruchi bi-weekly express trains (12664/12663) will be temporarily be augmented with one First Class AC Coach ex- Tiruchi from August 14 to November 13 and ex-Howrah from August 16 to November 15.
The Madurai – Hazrat Nizamuddin – Madurai Sampark Kranti bi-weekly express trains (12651 and 12652) will be temporarily augmented with one AC 3-tier coach ex- Madurai from August 11 to November 17 and from ex-Hazrat Nizamuddin from August 13 to November 19, the release added.
