The State government will exert pressure on Karnataka to release water as per directions of the Cauvery Water Management Board, Food Minister R. Kamaraj said on Friday.

“The Board had ordered Karnataka to release 9.2 TMC of water into Cauvery river following pressure exerted by the Tamil Nadu government. The State government will, likewise, urge Karnataka to abide by the Board’s direction in toto,” he said.

Earlier, the Minister inspected a damaged building at Government Hospital, Mannargudi, and said steps would be taken to replace the 6,200 sq. ft. building constructed in 1970, which had to be vacated after it had developed cracks.
