Anti-hijack drill at airport

An anti-hijack drill was conducted at Tiruchi international airport on Friday to test the preparedness of all stakeholders in case of extreme emergency.

Officials of the Airports Authority of India, Central Industrial Security Force, City Police, Intelligence Agencies, district administration and those from the Air Force station, Thanjavur, took part in the exercise which is conducted once a year. The Airport Director was the convenor of the committee under whose supervision the anti-hijack drill was carried out. The drill started around 5.15 a.m. and the ways of going about swiftly in case an aircraft was hijacked was carried out. Airport Director K. Gunasekaran said the exercise was carried out involving all stakeholders to test their preparedness in the event of a crisis.
