Syndicate members seek emergency meeting

December 17, 2011 02:34 pm | Updated 02:34 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Members of the syndicate of the University of Kerala, cutting across party lines, have petitioned the Vice Chancellor for an emergency meeting to discuss the recent references to the university made by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) in a recent interaction with presspersons.

A note signed by 15 syndicate members released here on Friday said the CEE had allotted students to B.Tech. and MCA courses for which the university had not given affiliation. The syndicate meeting of December 13 had resolved to seek a clarification and to bring to the attention of the government the difficulties involved if such allotments were made, the note said.

In response to this, the allegations made against the university by persons, including the CEE, were baseless and imaginary, the note said.
