Artist Sathyapal to head Lalithakala Akademi

The government has issued orders appointing office-bearers of major cultural institutions in the State.

As reported earlier in these columns, short story writer Vaisakhan will head the Kerala Sahitya Akademi and actor KPAC Lalitha the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. The government has picked artist Sathyapal to head the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. Folk musician C.J. Kuttappan would head the Folklore Akademi.

Khadeeja Mumtaz is the vice president of the Sahitya Akademi and artist and filmmaker Nemom Pushparaj the vice chairman of the Lalithakala Akademi. Editor Beena Paul Venugopal is the vice chairperson of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and playwright Xavier Pulppad vice chairman of the Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.

V. Karthikeyan Nair is the new director of the State Institute of Languages, actor P. Sreekumar chairman of the State Cultural Workers’ Welfare Fund Board, poet Vinod Vaisakhi vice chairman of the Vailoppilly Samskriti Bhavan and theatre activist Pramod Payyannur secretary of Bharat Bhavan. Moosa Erinjoli is the vice chairman of the Folklore Akademi.
