Basrur Rajeev Shetty, Chairman of the State unit of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) on Thursday denied the charges made against him by Sharath Kumar Rao J., a suspended pathologist of the blood bank at the District Government Hospital. The pathologist was suspended after Veena Shetty, Secretary of Jeevana Sangharsha, a NGO working for persons with HIV, accused him of disclosing her HIV status and not returning a loan.

Dr. Rao had said on Wednesday, that he had filed a complaint against Ms. Shetty, Mr. Rajeev Shetty and Ramachandra Bairy, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, at a lower court charging the three persons with extortion and forgery

Denying the charges, Mr. Rajeev Shetty said a probe panel found Dr. Rao guilty and IRCS decided to expel Dr. Rao from primary membership.
