The Marthandam police picked up a youth from West Bengal after he was seen moving around in suspicious manner in a temple there on Wednesday.

Police said the public detained a youth on Wednesday morning when he was moving around in suspicious manner in Bhagawathi Amman Temple at Kurumbetri near Marthandam. As he pretended to be deaf, the public handed him over to the police, who recovered from him his identity card with the name Noushad Ali from West Bengal.

The police also recovered the pamphlets of a function held in a college at Kanniyakumari in which Amirthanandamayi attended on August 25 and the maps showing the college. He was also grilled by Q Branch police.

Since he is pretending to be deaf, he was then taken to the Government Medical College Hospital at Aasaripallam for medical examination.
