Water level in Periyar dam stood at 128.20 feet (permissible level is 142 ft.), with an inflow of 1,476 cusecs and a discharge of 1,550 cusecs. In Vaigai dam, the level was 54 ft. (71 ft.), with an inflow of 1,058 cusecs and a discharge of 960 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit was 6,325 mcft.
Rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Friday was (in mm): Melur 64, Pulipatti 42.6, Mettupatti 25.2, Thekkadi 21.8, Kodaikanal 20, Periyar dam 17.2, Sothuparai dam 5, Shanmuganathi dam and Kallandhiri 3 each, Uthamapalayam 2 and Gudalur 1, PWD officials said.
