The Mahila court here on Tuesday awarded life sentence to two accused for the murder of a woman in 2014.

Sessions Judge C. Kumar Saravanan awarded life sentence to the accused, Jeyakumar, 46, and Ganeshan, 42, and imposed a fine of ₹ 5,000 each.

The duo murdered Subbammal, 40, of Mudivaithanendal who was working as a daily wage labourer.

She started living with Jeyakumar after being separated from her husband Muniyasamy. When Jeyakumar started doubting her fidelity, there were frequent quarells between them. So, Subbammal reportedly prevented him from coming to her house.

Enraged over this act, Jeyakumar, along with his friend Ganeshan, hacked her to death on April 29, 2014. The Pudukottai police investigated the case and arrested the accused.
