MADURAI

Renowned cricket player and all-rounder Shane Watson distributed cash prizes to players from Madurai’s Velammal schools and colleges who performed exceedingly well at the international level, here on Tuesday.

Speaking at Ida Scudder auditorium, the player said that one must emulate Chennai Super Kings Captain M. S. Dhoni who deals with wins and losses with the same amount of cool under moments of pressure.

He mentioned that his favourite players were Ricky Ponting and M. S. Dhoni. “I have played in many teams in the past. I first began my career in the Indian Premier League by playing for Rajasthan Royals but CSK army is the team that stole my heart,” he said.

Watson made his international debut in 2002.

Students from Velammal Medical College and Velammal Group of Schools as well as staff members from the institutions participated.
