Headmasters of various government schools, Assistant Elementary Education Officers and Additional Assistant Elementary Education Officers attended a review meeting chaired by Director of Elementary Education R. Elangovan at E.V.R. Corporation Girls’ Higher Secondary School here on Monday.
The meeting was preceded by a training programme, which focused on improving the examination results of students from classe I to VIII.
According to Mr. Elangovan, a special committee has been constituted for each subject.
The members from the special committees will provide periodic training to teachers of the elementary and middle schools.
“Training the teachers will have a better impact on the quality of education in the schools. Besides organising training programme for teachers, we are also taking steps to provide individual attention to each student to help them better their performance,” said Mr. Elangovan, addressing media persons at the venue.
Chief Educational Officer J. Angelo Irudhayasamy said that the headmasters of five schools each from the 15 blocks in the district were selected to attend the meeting.
“The schools were selected based on their poor performance in the achievement test conducted by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan in August,” he also said.
A total of 75 headmasters attended the programme. K. Parvathi, Chief Educational Officer of the SSA, and S. Mary, Chief Educational Officer of Madurai Corporation, were also present in the training programme.
