Madurai Police arrest youth under POCSO Act

The suspect, K. Rajapandi, allegedly deceived the victim, a 14-year-old girl, took her to his relative’s house and sexually abused her.

A 21-year-old man was arrested by Madurai City police on Friday under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for alleged sexual exploitation of a 14-year-old girl.

According to police sources, the victim, a Class 8 student residing in Jeeva Nagar, had gone to her maternal grandmother’s house on Ramaiah Street in Jaihindpuram area.

The suspect, named K. Rajapandi, residing in the neighbourhood, allegedly deceived the victim and took her to his relative’s house and sexually abused her.

On hearing the incident, the victim’s mother filed a complaint at Jaihindpuram police station. The police booked a case and arrested Rajapandi. He was later remanded to judicial custody after presenting before a magistrate.
