Woman wanted in 15 burglary cases held

A woman wanted in connection with 15 cases of burglary in the town was arrested and stolen booty worth nearly ₹8.33 lakh was recovered from her on Friday.

S. Nirmala, 35, a resident of Danavaigudem in Khammam rural mandal, was nabbed while she was moving in Gandhi Chowk in a suspicious manner on Friday morning.

She used to conduct a recce of the locked houses in residential colonies by disguising herself as a street vendor and later break in, police said, adding that she used to operate alone.

She was allegedly involved in 15 cases of housebreaking offences reported in the limits of Khammam one-town, two-town, three-town and urban police stations.

Stolen gold ornaments weighing 255 grams, 2 kg of silver articles and ₹50,000 in cash were recovered, police added. Khammam Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal commended the coordinated efforts of the police team which nabbed the accused and recovered the stolen booty in a swift manner.
