A traveller lost his wallet containing US dollars and Saudi Riyals during baggage scanning at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday morning.
Syed Jaffar, 28, of Shahgunj in Old City arrived by a Saudi Airlines flight at RGI Airport around 8 a.m.
After landing at the airport Jaffar, before checking out placed the bag in the scanner.
He claimed that he kept the wallet containing 1,800 US dollars and 8,056 Saudi Riyals on the bag along with the laptop.
“It is not clear how it went missing, while the man accused the airport staff of stealing it, the latter say they handed over the wallet to him,” RGIA Detective Inspector S.N Javeed said.
The police are relying on the footage recorded by the closed circuit cameras installed in the vicinity for clues.
One detained under PD Act
An alleged automobile thief was detained under the Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act of Goondas 1986 by the city police on Tuesday. Muthyala Rohith, 27, of Jiyaguda was involved in 20 cases of vehicle theft in Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates.
He was convicted six times during the last few years for property offences, a press release stated.
Student killed in accident
A B. Tech first year student was killed in road accident at Bahadurpally under Dundigal police station limits on Tuesday morning. The woman Rajeshwari (18) of Mallareddy Engineering College was going to the college along with her brother on a two wheeler when they fell on the road after the vehicle skid. “Before the woman could get up she was run over by her college bus. Death was instant for her,” Dundigal SI, Vidyasagar Reddy said.
