‘Release proposals for cleaning Hussainsagar’

April 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated April 02, 2016 03:17 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Claiming that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) gave it false information in a Right to Information (RTI) reply about the de-watering of the Hussainsagar Lake, members of Save Our Urban Lakes (SOUL) and Alliance for Our Commons (AOR) here demanded that the State government release proposals for cleaning the lake.

The RTI application was filed by SOUL member Lubna Sarwath, seeking the Detailed Project Report on de-watering, de-silting and refilling proposals of the Hussainsagar. The reply, dated February 21, from the North Tanks division, GHMC, however, clearly mentioned that there is no such proposal in office. “We also informed the same to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA),” mentioned Ms. Sarwath.
