‘Declare district ODF’

MP K. Prabhakar Reddy’s suggestion to officials

Lok Sabha member K. Prabhakar Reddy has urged authorities to take urgent steps to declare the district open defection free (ODF). He was speaking at the District Development, Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting here on Saturday.

Mr. Reddy said the officials should coordinate and implement schemes being offered by the Union Government. Suggesting that funds being released under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan be used to create infrastructure in schools, he instructed the district education officer to ensure a healthy diet for students of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalays. Patancheru MLA G. Mahipal Reddy wanted construction of hostels. while Sangareddy MLA Chinta Prabhakar called for completion of construction of compound walls for the KGBVs. The latter also requested the Collector, Manickaraj Kannan, to sanction more funds for panchayat buildings since ₹10 lakh that had earlier been released was not sufficient.

Joint Collector Vasam Venkateswarlu and District Panchayat officer Venkateswarlu and other officials were present at the meeting.
