An app to help parents monitor what their kids do online, especially apps they use, time spent on games and information shared has been unveiled by Play Go Solutions, a city start-up.

Sharing details of the app, LR ‘n’ Play, founders of the start-up K. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Shilpa Rao on Friday said several parents were concerned about the apps children download and time they spend playing games on smart phones. Heightening their concern are games such as Blue Whale and instances of cyber bullying.

According to them, the subscription-based app, which they described as a unique digital parenting platform, would allow parents to permit their children to use technology responsibly, thus helping improve their academic performance. The solution is targeted at children aged 5-11 years. “There are 13 crore kids in India in this age group. If we crack one per cent of this, it will be a huge potential,” said Mr. Reddy.

An investment of ₹2 crore had been made in the company, which by next year intends to scale up operations pan India and raise up to $5 million, Ms.Rao said.

Play Go Solutions is eyeing a national presence by April 2019. In terms of numbers, it aims to reach one million children and a ₹30 crore turnover by this fiscal. The headcount, which is around 30 at present, would be increased to 150-200 during the same time frame.
