More skeletons are tumbling out of slain gangster Nayeem’s case as an ex-Maoist Thota Kumaraswamy was arrested in Nalgonda district while another couple surrendered before Rajendranagar court here on Friday.
Also known as Tech Madhu and known for his expertise in making weaponry, Kumaraswamy surrendered before police in 2006. He then had admitted to have made 1,530 rockets and 40 launchers at the instance of Maoists top leadership.
A ‘tapancha’, four live rounds, hand grenade and five detonators were seized from him. Madhu was known to Nayeem who too was a naxalite and member of an action team that assassinated DIG K.S. Vyas in 1993. After surrender, Madhu was running a mobile phone shop at Ramnagar in Hyderabad.
“But he continued his relationship with Nayeem and is helping the latter in his operations at Chattisgarh and Orissa,” Bhongir Inspector M. Shankar said. In another instance, a couple -Fayyum and Shahana- surrendered before the court. Fayyum was cited as second accused in the case relating to Nayeem being investigated by the Special Investigation Team.
Judicial custody
He was Nayeem’s aunt’s son. The court remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days. Farhana and Afsha, who were taken into three day custody from judicial remand by Cyberabad-West police, were sent back to the prison. They reportedly made starting revelations about Nayeem’s illegal activities.
These two women were found in his house along with five children in Nayeem’s house at Puppalaguda when police conducted searches. Meanwhile, the Government had announced that Kukatpally ACP N. Bhujanga Rao of Cyberabad-West will be the Investigating Officer into the case of Nayeem’s killing.
Cyberabad-East commissionerate’s Special Operations Team (SOT) arrested Nayeem’s two associates, Mohd. Nawab and Modi Ramesh. The duo was accused of extortions by targeting people who made money in real estate deals.
