Twenty-one stolen cameras, an I-phone and other valuables worth Rs.7 lakh have been recovered at his instance. The accused, Anil Kapoor, has committed 30 thefts during the past couple of years, the police said.

Anil, a resident of Faridabad, would break into wedding parties at five-star hotels on the pretext of covering the function for some magazine and allegedly steal valuables left unattended. Being a photographer, no one suspected him. He would later sell the cameras and other stolen items. On June 9, Prerna Jaiswal, a resident of Lajpat Nagar, was attending a wedding at a five-star hotel when her camera was stolen. The security staff of the hotel identified Anil as a stranger attending the party and reported the theft to the police with the picture of the suspect. Anil was detained for questioning and purportedly confessed to having committed the crime.
